Maryland vs. LSU

Maryland faces #3 seed LSU in the second round of the NCAA tournament.  Terps are 2.5 point underdogs.  LSU forces lots of turnovers, they average 9 steals a game, so Maryland needs to be careful with the ball.  They also score a lot and average 81.3 points per game.  It will be a test for Maryland.  Let's get it.

I watched the LSU game. I wasn't impressed. We'll see.

3 of the #5 seeds lost. Losing to Nebraska probably saved our butts.

Key to LSU game is starting strong. Sluggish start - which is the trend lately - and I could see us digging an insurmountable hole (we came back against Belmont but unlikely that works against a more talented squad). Starting strong and Cowan not forcing shots and we should be in good shape.

Cowan needs to play much better. Not surviving another performance like Friday.

LSU is a high power offense. We have to stay on the majority of this game. Can’t spend half of the game out of sync.

Another slow start, missing open shots. Not loving our shot selection either. Lindo just got broken on the defensive end.

This team is a group of absolutely terrible shooters.  Cowan has regressed since his freshman year to become essentially nothing offensively.  And their offense is so bland and predictable.  They are lucky LSU is also not very good but they are going to be going home today.

Yeah, not happening. Just look outclassed.

Can't tell which team doesn't have their head coach.

Our shooting is just absolutely horrendous. Can't even finish on these point blank looks.

5 of 23 from the field. Not getting bad looks. Almost as if the rim has a lid on it.

Blowout coming.   Zero points for two runs of over three minutes...5/24 from the field, 1/11 from 3 point range.   This team peaked in late January and has been mentally terrible in the last five games of the season.

Tirgeon is this kind of coach...winning seasons for sure, but he will likely never get a team deep in the tournament or to a Final Four. He is not good at getting his teams to step up in hard situations on the road or in tournament play.   If pretty consistently good seasons but never excellent is what the program wants, Turgeon is the guy.

Cowan, for a junior, is often just running around clueless.....like that breakaway right there, he has no drive to the hoop, he just glides, styling and looks around and the ball gets knocked away.  Juan Dixon he is not.

I’ll take down 9 with as many shots we missed. Cowan continues to be terrible. 

I don’t blame any of this on Turgeon. The ball movement has been good and the defensive effort solid for the most part.
