DL Hall 2019

First time seeing Hall pitch, and I was surprised at how tight his delivery was. With all the walks I was expecting more of a wild arms and legs coming at the batter kind of windup. But his body was very controlled and contained.

The upper ‘90s fastball, plus the killer curve and change makes me very excited about this kid’s future.

Did you see Scott in the futures game a year or two ago?  (not sharpshooting you just trying to get a frame of reference)

Hall showed three major league pitches. Scott profiled as a reliever.

That isn't relevant to the question.  In the future's game I posted the footage of Scott was throwing 100 and using a wipeout slider.  Was Hall showing better stuff?

I mean great if he was, really that would be great, but that was a dominant performance by Scott.

Not better pure stuff because the curveball wasn’t sharp today. But he did show a couple plus changeups with identical armspeed and 14+ mph separation in addition to the FB/CB. So along with the delivery it was a better overall look IMO.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I’m convinced the gun in Cleveland is a couple ticks fast.  I did like the confidence DL showed in the change up. The pitch has come a long way in a short amount of time.

Really? You mean his curve is normally better than what he showed today? Because I saw one that kind of just spun there, but the other three or four were real knee benders.

FWIW the Rockies closer prospect is sitting at 93/94 right now. Unless he's not a flamethrower at all (hard to imagine for a closer prospect) would seem gun can't be overly juiced.

Yeah, this year it’s been better than that. Sharper, more consistent finish.

You are right to be suspicious, the stadium gun was hot last year. However this year it was consistent with scout’s guns. So those were legit velocities.

Hard to imagine that Scott hasn’t had consistent success in the MLB.

Hall looked good. Good to see him in Rodriguez come through on a big stage.

Not a Future's Game though - above is from the AZ League AS Game.
