O's need to add 2-4 starters this off season.  AAA types for under 1M each.

13. Castro (25)*   2017-18 ERA under 4.00 and improving in the 2nd half

15. Tanner Scott (25)-o Has 1 option left.  Can't give up on an arm like this until he is out of option and still has no command.

16. Kline  (28) -o  Has 2 option left.  Same comment as Tanner.

17. Hess (26) -o   Need to be tried as  reliever.  Has a 3.07 ERA as a reliever at AAA.  Has one option left.

19. Ortiz  (24)-o Has 2 option left.    Strong arm.   Needs to pitch to improve.

20. Carroll - (27)-o Depending on health.  If he was healthy he is just the kind of pitcher the O's would be trying to add. Has 1 option left.  Has a 2.73 ERA in the minors with over a strikeout per inning.

21. Alvarado (25)-o  2.70 ERA at AA.

Kline for sure.

 Hess had good in the 2nd half of 2018.  Probably a reliever.  I think he stays.

Carroll is all about his health.  I have no insight into that.

If Smith ends this season with an option, I think he stays on the roster.

I would DFA Hess, Ortiz, Wilkerson, and Rondon and not lose a wink of sleep. Losing Ruiz or Carroll wouldn't trouble me much either. And I doubt Alvarado gets added.

Bleier, Castro, Givens, Bundy, Wynns, Villar and Mullins could all be traded, non tendered or DFA’d this Winter. Stewart is another guy that just does not seem to be in the plans, and I would not be surprised to see him traded.

Smith is a guy that can hit, but as the season has progressed, his soft body and terrible arm really show. He’s banged up, and has been for a while before the concussion I think. But I would not be upset if he’s moved as well, or even DFA’d.

Given the choices, I completely agree. We have plenty of room for him if Wildcard's list is accurate. I definitely want to see him another year removed from that injury. I have no idea if he's still improving his stuff, but that's my hope. If he gets back to his original upside, he's really valuable. If he's close to that, he's still valuable most likely.

My guess is, the team will be busier in the winter than they were at the trade deadline.  I don't expect the 40 man to look like that.
