So far Hays has been the only player worth watching.  He's having a very nice "rookie" season.  Too early to anoint him the O's All-star selection?

Position player absolutely Hays has been the best.  Castro has quietly been doing well with 2 scoreless in this game for the win and ERA now of 0.71.

If it's anyone else I would be shocked unless he goes into a huge regression. Guess Givens or even Castro or Harvey could potentially slip in as relievers. They have all been great.

I wonder if OOTP doesn't believe in Means's low HR/FB%. He had one of the lowest in the league last year, but he also had a pretty great hard hit%, so maybe it wasn't all a fluke. The advanced pitching metrics hate him because of his low strikeout numbers and fly ball tendencies. Do you know if OOTP just looks at the FIPs and xFIPs of the world, or do they take into account things like hard hit% and barrels?

Some good questions and I'm not sure what they take into consideration to come up with their ratings. The ratings are usually pretty decent, but they have misses and not everything is perfect. I'm hoping with all the statcast information out there they will incorporate that into future ratings.

With Holoday on the 26 man roster now and Sisco struggling, is there anyone else in AAA or in the waiver that could take his spot?

I'm considering promoting Yusniel Diaz but I'm going to give Sisco a chance at DHing some to see if he can get it going offensively. He's been a little better after a real slow start. Really the big thing is keeping Davis on the roster. I was hoping Mountcastle would be forcing his way to the big leagues but he has struggled outside of hitting a few long home runs. I really don't like the ratings on Mountcastle in the sim. His hit tool is too low.

Just cut him man.  Just do it.

    • I am with you on this.   This is what Elias does.   Like O'Hearn.   Elias signs Rivera for about 1M, and brings him to ST.    If there is not room for him on the roster on OD Elias DFAs him and tries to get him through waivers to play at AAA.    Then he is available whenever the injuries occur.   I could see Elias doing the same thing with Bowman.
    • I think the Orioles will tender him arbitration. Before anyone gets too worked over this possibility, keep in mind we also reached an Arb-1 deal with Sam Hilliard last year. Despite the gold glove, Rivera is a better defender than Ramon, but Urias is the better hitter and superior overall player.  However, Urias will also cost more and could bring back more in a trade.   Further, Urias could get injured at some point.  If Urias is injured in spring training, then yes “something went wrong to cause Rivera to be on the OD roster”, but it will still be good to have this depth.
    • I’ve watched enough baseball to know that any team that makes the playoffs can get hot and do well once the postseason begins.  I’m not optimistic about the playoffs, but it also wouldn’t shock me if the O’s made some noise.  It’s a matter of getting the pitching and hitting on the same page.
    • ha! I didnt say it WOULD all come together,THATS a jinx,I said they MIGHT all come together...that doesnt qualify as a jinx...
    • Mayo would likely need to be optioned when Westburg/Urias/Mountcastle return.  By doing it today instead of tomorrow or Tuesday, Mayo’s 10-day minimum option length will be over in time for him to be eligible for wildcard series.  On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Mayo makes the postseason roster unless there is an injury (in which case there would be an exception to the 10-day rule).
    • Why would he want to?
    • Rivera on this club next year would be a step back. He can’t sniff Ramon’s jock. If he’s back on this roster to start the season, something went wrong.
