I agree if he sat out, but I was referring to this year. The Os save money based on fewer games as they do with all players based on the pro data agreement. But I believe the deferred money is paid in full. THAT is the part I am still looking To verify. Thanks for adding insight.

The money is deferred from specific seasons. Possibly each one. The amount deferred from this season would not be paid out as it was not earned.  That's my understanding.

As long as they don't claim they should get paid, I don't think they should get any grief at all. They're putting their money where their mouths are.

Seems like the guys sitting out have all mad tons of money already.  But anyone can sit out this year or any other year if they want to.  Not a big deal to me,

Four guys, so far.  Three of them, yeah.  Joe Ross, not so much.   So he hasn’t really made much relatively.  He’s made around $2M in his career.  Made a $1M last year.  Was supposed to make $1.5M this year, but with the proration, he’s only giving up $556k.

Maybe teams can make themselves attractive to free agents based on how extensive their anti-Covid safeguards are. Players would not only lower the risk of infection, but also the risk of sacrificing portions of their contracts.

That’s like how the Browns had a run where somebody got a bad staph infection every year. If the virus is still an issue in the offseason then reputations like this could definitely affect signings.

LOL.  Players are going to look at how much money they can get just like always.
