Third place in what? ROY?

'Cuse me me while I kiss this fly. I hadn't heard that. About Mountcastle.

He didn't finish in third, he received a third place vote.

As an aside, both ROY Kyle Lewis and runner-up Luis Robert really slumped terribly in September.

Lewis: .147/.270/.280

Robert: .136/.237/.173

These guys basically had one hot month, then collapsed.  Really makes you wonder what would have happened over a 162 game season.

That third-place vote for Mountcastle was the only vote cast for a rookie in the AL East.

In an earlier era of baseball, Mountcastle might have been given the nickname Rook (castle = rook). Now he'll probably just be Ryan.

I'm afraid it's going to be Mountie.  Players seem to like mildly altering actual names instead of coming up with spinning something out of whole cloth.

My vote is still for Lord Mountcastle.
