Draft Order 2021

Moved up another notch with tonight's loss combined with Kansas City's victory over St. Louis. We now own the sixth pick. A loss in the finale against Boston moves us up to at least fifth, ahead of the Red Sox. Victories by Detroit and Arizona would move us up to the third pick. I hate seeing us lose but it's intriguing to know we can possibly leap from the eighth pick to the third pick in one three game series.

Having our choice of the HS bats (or one of the Vandy pitchers if 1 or 2 passes) is a good spot to be in for this upcoming draft, based on what we know right now.

With two games to play, the Orioles could still end up picking anywhere from 3rd to 10th. To pick 3rd they would have to lose their final two games while Boston and Detroit win their final two games and Washington wins one of their final three games. We currently have the sixth pick as we jumped Arizona yesterday to move up from seventh. If we were to win our final two games we could drop to 10th with one win by Arizona and two wins by Kansas City, Colorado, and Seattle.

I think you mean two losses.

Thanks for this.    We’ll be somewhere in the top 10 no matter what happens, so that’s good.   That’s quite a lot of room to move one way or the other in two games.

Detroit has a 2 game lead on us and the only team to win a tiebreaker based on last years record.  So I'm pretty sure 4th is the highest option now.

Sitting at 6th.  I think nats get 1 more at least and think 5th is looking fairly likely.

The Tigers may have Cardinals makeups Monday.  A doubleheader could be scheduled, though I wonder how squishy Game 2 could get if Game 1 does something to clarify the NL playoff picture.

Looks like we have never had the 6th pick.  Lots in the 3-9 range 2001-2012

3 = Machado

4 = Loewen, Matusz, Bundy, Gausman

5 = Wieters, Hobgood (10th biggest bonus precisely $2000 ahead of Mike Minor)

7 = Smith, Markakis

8 = Townsend

9 = Rowell

In my humble opinion, a top 7 pick this year is as good as our number 2 options last year.  I am not a huge fan of taking college pitchers number 1, but Rocker is a clear number 1 guy.

I am really high on Tyree Reed and Chase Petty. Chase Petty is Dylan Bundy but think Dylan Bundy at the draft and not post multiple injuries.
