How good is Mike Trout?

Trout's career is taking on an all too eerily similar turn as Ken Griffey Jr. with his body starting to break down in recent years. It would be a shame if his prime is cut short by injuries and never even making it to an ALCS let alone the World Series.

Since returning to the Angels on August 19, Trout is hitting .310/.364/.676 with 8 homers in 18 games.   I’m really hoping the guy can stay healthy in the next half-decade or more so we can see just how far he can climb up the leaderboards.

Two weeks ago he had the worst contact in baseball.  Maybe he could be this generations Frobby and he could get all his long awaited playoff glory as a Bird

I peeked at Trout on the career WAR list this week, and also noticed by both PA and WAR he is about 50% to Bonds.

It's just really sad that his career is going to be wasted on the Anaheim Angels, a pathetic franchise that couldn't figure out how to build around him.   Maybe that changes and maybe they figure it out or maybe they trade him and he wins a World Series somewhere else.  But it sucks that, at this rate, he'll be on the Mount Rushmore of ballplayers that had amazing, transcendent careers but never won a World Series with Bonds, Ted Williams and Ty Cobb.

Could swap out Griffey Jr on that Mount Rushmore.  Certainly doesn't have the WAR that Bonds, Williams or Cobb had but he was the face of baseball in the 90s.
