This is why you have to love prospect scouting. 

Bishop has been absolutely on fire in June at Bowie striking out 24 batters while allowing no runs on seven hits and just two walks over 14 innings. 

Bishop is not going to wow anyone with velocity, but he's a four pitch guy who gets lots of swing and miss on his slider and curveball, and can work the fastball up in the zone for some despite the pedestrian 90-92 velocity. I'd like to see the change a bit more, but he's not giving a up a lot of hard contact right now and when he commands his pitches, he's proving to be tough to hit.

Similar to Bruce Zimmermann, Bishop has been impressive of late and is back on the prospect scene.

I think the lower velocity is more forgivable for a left-hander.

I've heard of crafty left-handers, but never crafty right-handers.

After winning Orioles MiL pitcher of the month in June, allowing 0 runs in 22 IP, Bishop allowed 7 earned runs over 8 innings in his next two appearances and hasn’t pitched since July 10.   He’s on the  7-day IL with who knows what malady.

Control issues as well. Hopefully the injury is fairly minor and also the reason behind that poor stretch.

Bishop threw an inning for Delmarva tonight, allowing 2 hits and a walk.   He escaped without allowing a run because Cowser threw out a runner at the plate.

In his return to Bowie tonight. Bishop threw 3 scoreless innings, 1 hit, no walks, 5 Ks.   Good to see because his rehab appearances at Delmarva had been pretty terrible.

Pretty decent numbers this year, wonder what drove his decision.
