Wieters was worth 14.5 in his first 5 years.   Things went south from there as he had TJ surgery the next season and then went downhill quickly after his last season with the O’s.

If Adley can do what Wieters did and bring some leadership and steadiness up the middle while hitting a few home runs, and anchor the next good Orioles team, then that's mission accomplished. I don't think he will be quite what we hoped offensively, but he will be very good. The point Fangraphs makes about the O's searching for an impact player to anchor the rebuild is pretty spot on. I don't see why it will be any different than the last good teams where things started to gel once the up-the-middle players were above average (Wieters, Jones, Hardy). If we can do that with Adley, Mullins, and say, Westburg, then we'll be getting somewhere.
