I just hope we let him in the rotation.  Don’t send him back down.  Let him learn on the Major League roster.  While we know what he is right now, will he truly be worse than some of our current starters?  I would let him learn every 5th day with the Orioles.

He should learn to be a good AAA pitcher before he learns to be a good MLB pitcher.

I haven’t watched him at all this year, but what didn’t display today that impressed me last year was a really nice slider. Change up was impressive today, but I didn’t see the pitcher I know. It wasn’t just about the results. Taken with his recent struggles in Norfolk I wonder if there’s more going on with him.

I wasnt overly impressed either.

He was about as good as he’s been pitching at AAA. He was told a few starts ago that he needed to dial it in. He hasn’t done that! Stupid call up, they didn’t put him in a good position to be successful. He threw too many first pitch balls. The defense didn’t do him any favors. Elias didn’t care about winning today.

Well, I'm not ready to make proclamations about his chances moving forward based off what we've seen today.  He definitely needs some work but you can see how if he refines a few things he can be a good pitcher.

This falls in line with what we talked about this morning but I don't think there's much different that coaches saw today from what MiLB coaches have seen the last 2 years. I'm sure they've told him what he needs to work on and how to get there.

Was he always receptive and willing to make changes? Doesn't seem like 100%. Among other things, he ignores baserunners. And I'm quite sure coaches have talked to him about that since he was about age 15. Maybe today causes him to become more  determined to make changes.

One thing I'm convinced of though is if he stays up and Holt gets significant changes implemented in a few weeks, he may actually BE a wizard.

I think 2 things are very clear. DL is very talented. And DL needs a LOT of work. Whether he's ready to do that is my question.

I'm not ready to make the assumption that DL Hall isn't receptive and willing to make changes.

Elias called him up just to shut up OH posters clamoring for Hall. 😀

Disappointing but pretty predictable debut. And it was a bit of an odd promotion. Hopefully they had good reasons and intentions. Not clear yet. At the very least maybe Hall will be less nervous next time and maybe he knows a little more about what he needs to do to be successful.
