Predict the 26

Agree 100% with Redbird.

If Holliday was not going to make the team they weren’t going to keep him around this long.

I think it’s possible not likely that Webb is let go for someone else.

Holliday was kept around this long last year.

Why wouldn't Holliday still be around?   There's about 20 extra players right now and half of them are going to Norfolk.   Norby isn't making it and he's still here.

Teheran’s stat line was quite good today after a dud last time. That may really help his chances.

I think the call on Teheran comes down to how much they actually think Means will be back soon. Right now he is 6th on the SP depth chart with Zimmerman 7th behind him so they may be reluctant to cut him loose.

Because it keeps building his hype. One week of games left.

Norby has no chance. Why would you tease someone this long and then send him back to Norfolk?

He had no chance last year.

Because that's how it works.  There are cuts all the way up untill about 48 hours before OD.   Maybe they haven't made a decision yet.

I get that.

This isn’t some ordinary prospect or an arm that is batting for the last spot in the pen. He is the number 1 prospect in the sport. If I sending him down I’m not waiting until a week of games are left and 10 days from OD.

Because he missed the first part of spring and will benefit from facing pitchers in major league camp.

The only sure thing I see at this time is there will be a lot of "discussion" on this site about the finale 26. I even thought I had it figured out but ain't so sure now!!!! We will however ultimately have a good amount of ML ready depth at Norfolk.  In spite of all the "he should have" and "he shouldn't have" bound to come, the O's as an organization are in a really good place.

Oh, thought you were talking about Norby.

No, but the same goes for Holliday in regards to facing pitching at major league camp.

NP.

I just don’t think they keep him this long with all hype to pull the plug.

Like @Moose Milligan keeps pointing out… the last spot of the bench and the last two spots in the bullpen really don’t matter of who makes the OD roster because those will be rotated through during the season.

I do think Terehan makes it so we don’t blow through an already fragile bullpen to start the season.

Also, Means and Bradish will hit the 60 day IL soon, so that will give Elias two more spots to pick up players off waivers. Nevin will get DFAd too.

Elias is not done and I predict we pick up a reliever for the OD 26 that isn’t currently in our org.

    • McCann looks cooked but he's in his last year and our options at backup C aren't great unless we're willing to trade for one.  But I'm not giving up a lot for a backup C.   I'd like to find a replacement for Urias.  He didn't look great last year and he's being thrust into a role that he's not really cut out for right now.  I don't think he's getting the 2022 magic back.  Maybe Westburg can go to 3rd full time and one of our 5 AAA 2nd basemen can work in with Mateo at 2nd.
    • I quoted myself, because I wanted to share something with you all.  I have memory issues.  Nothing full blown or anything, but I don't recall things nearly as well as I once did.  I mention this because it occurred to me that I posted a very similar thing about McCann last year, and he performed notably better in the 2nd half.  At least I believe so.   It's not that I feel I'm exactly wrong about McCann, but rather that he showed himself to be better just last season and could do so again.  I hope so. Memory issues are nothing to be ashamed of, though I'd be pretending if it didn't bother me.  I've been dealing with this for maybe five years or so, though it gets worse every year.  At 59, that's younger than most that have such issues.   I'm sure in a forum as populated as this one, there could be others going through what I am.  It is what it is... it's life, and I hope you're all doing your best with it.
    • Estrada and Tejada both continued their recent surges today.  Estrada was 2 for 4 with a double, while Tejada was 3 for 3  with a homer.  Tejada has his OPS up to .737, not bad for a league where .654 is average.  Estrada is at .628 and climbing.
    • Jeff Tackett was also part of the single-worst baserunning display I've seen in my entire life.  No exaggeration.  I was at the game with a friend who was at her first baseball game ever, and she asked me what was going on.  I still have no idea. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/1993/04/18/three-man-jam-at-third-costs-the-orioles-7-5/7eb4c3d6-545f-481a-89f4-9bc0036ad89a/
    • No doubt, I'm expecting that from Mateo. But sub .600 with worse defense is a possible outcome for Holliday this year. I hope it doesn't happen but I don't think we can rule it out.
