Damn wish they hadn't wasted those runners.  Looks like everyone’s having trouble knowing what will be called a strike.  Really liked Mateo’s AB but that slider fooled him good.

He'd probably still have swung at it if he'd recognized it, due to the strike two call on the same pitch, but at least in that even the swing might have been smarter.  You can't pull on outside slider.

Mateo stepping in the box ala a right handed Luke Scott!!!

Haven't thought about him in awhile. I just saw that he signed with a KBO team in 2013 and was cut from the team for calling the coach a liar and a coward. Apparently, this was due to him being put on the reserve team as a result of him dealing with plantar fasciitis and not being happy with this decision.

I love that stealing bases seems to be making a comeback. It's only seven games into the season, but I feel like I've seen more in those seven games than I saw in a whole month last time I was watching baseball regularly.

    • Holliday, Mayo, Basallo.    Would have to be blown away for Kjerstad and Cowser.    Shopping Stowers and Norby.    Driving Hays to the airport. Urias, too.    Anyone that’s not Gunnar and Adley can be had.
    • I watched end of Astros and Blue Jays game.  Trevor Richard’s could be a nice second piece as a trade option for the bullpen.  He is having solid year .139/.222/.264/.486 line is very nice.  He is signed just for the year at 2.5 million so guy you could get for late teen type prospect.  Judd Fabian for Richard’s would seem like decent trade.
    • Among the prospects who aren't already [semi] regulars, anyone not named Mayo, Basallo, Kjerstad or Holliday.  Even Kjerstad could go in the right deal for a starter but I probably wouldn't like it.  Among the position players 27 and over, any of them in the right deal but not more than two.
    • He asked for Holliday last deadline for Cease. Who knows what he asked for this past winter for Cease? I’d rather we just go the rental route with Kikuchi, Scherzer, or Severino. We can figure out next year’s rotation this winter.
    • It’s easier to say who I wouldn’t trade.
    • This seems like a good day for a general DSL check-in. The DSL Orioles Orange team lost today but is 14-7 overall.   Going into today's play, they were in first place in the DSL Northwest Division and had the 5th best record of any DSL team.  They were 15th of 51 DSL team at 6.20 runs per game, and 14th in fewest runs allowed per game at 4.80.   So, nicely above average in both respects.    DSL Orioles Black won today to raise their record to 8-12.   They are a micron ahead of Orange at 6.21 runs per game (14th in the DSL), but they have allowed the second most runs per game of any DSL team, at 7.79. The top hitters for Orange through today's play are: RF/CF/LFJordan Sanchez (18), .386/.470/.757, 5 HR, 21 RBI ($400-450 k signing in late 2023) SS/2B/3B Luis Guevara (18), .340/.500/.434, 0 HR, 9 RBI ($200 k  bonus in 2023; repeating the DSL after an .824 P OPS season last year) C/1B Ariander Mejia (17), .316/.409/.456, 1 HR, 13 RBI (repeating the DSL after posting a .716 OPS at age 16) CF Stiven Martinez (16), .298/.411/.426, 0 HR, 8 RBI ($950 k bonus 2024). LF/RF Angel Garcia (17), .226/.373/.434, 2 HR, 17 RBI (240 k bonus 2024). Emilio Sanchez (17), .263/.440/.281, 0 HR, 2 RBI ($1.3 mm bonus 2024) The top Orange pitchers for now are: Keefer Morfe (18), 4 GS, 12.0 IP, 0.75 ERA, 1.000 WHIP, 15.0 K/9, 5.0 K/BB ($210 k bonus in 2023; repeating after posting a 7.01 ERA last year) Juan Rasquin (18), 4 G, 3 GS, 11.2 IP, 0.77 ERA, 1.200 WHIP, 12.3 K/9, 1.6 K/BB (repeating after throwing to a 5.14 ERA last year) Henry Tejada (19), 6 G, 13.0 IP, 0.69 ERA, 1.000 WHIP, 8.3 K/9, 2.0 K/BB (missed last season but threw to a 2.10 ERA in his age 17 season). Jeyderson Mora (19), 4 GS, 14.1 IP, 2.51 ERA, 1.256 WHIP, 8.2 K/9, 1.4 K/BB (repeating after throwing 5 IP to a 1.80 ERA last year). Luis Espinoza (17), 4 GS, 15.1 IP, 4.11 ERA, 1.435 WHIP, 7.6 K/9, 2.2 K/BB  For Black, the top hitters are: SS/3B Elvin Garcia (17), .370/.507/.611, 0 HR, 16 RBI ($500 k bonus 2024) 2B/1B Jose Mejia (18), .286/.430/.460, 2 HR, 12 RBI ($410 k bonus in 2023; repeating the DSL after an .885 season in limited action) 1B/3B/2B Felix Amparo (18), .320/.443/.440, 1 HR, 15 RBI ($350 k bonus in 2023; repeating the DSL after a .628 OPS season last year) C Juan Ortega (18), .256/.473/.359, 1 HR, 5 RBI (repeating the DSL after a .790 OPS season in limited action) It's slim pickings among the Black pitchers for now, but they do have: Esteban Luna (17), 4 GS, 14.0 IP, 0.64 ERA, 1.143 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, 2.4 K/BB Andy Fabian (21), 4 GS, 14.2 IP, 2.45 ERA, 1.295 WHIP, 13.5 K/9, 3.7 K/BB Esteban Mejia (17), 4 GS, 10.2 IP, 3.38 ERA, 1.219 WHIP, 12.7 K/9, 3.0 K/BB ($140 k bonus 2024) I put in signing bonus info that I could find easily.   There may be more info available.
    • Well the first step is to trade Mayo for whatever we can get.
