The bullpen is a bigger priority than a starter for upgrades.  In this sellers market there won’t be a starter that anyone here will want to pay the price for that will help this team as much as a reliever. Too bad DL, Givens, and Tate seem unlikely to help this year.

Givens and Tate were supposed to be the guys with experience that was going to fortify thr bullpen. Sometimes things don't work out the way you would imagine. So trading for a vet with half a season of good performance might not be a good idea either.

So if we don't score in the bottom of the 9th it's gave over for us.  The Mountain can strand the runner.  You think Akin could?

You really wanted to put Akin out in a tie game in the top of the 9th when you could use Bautista after what you just saw?

You play to win in the bottom of the inning, then you pray Akin doesn't suck in the 10th.

Yeah, well, Gibson is not good.  We knew that.  There are real pitching problems here because Elias seems to struggle developing it, drafting it, buying it, or trading for it.  Pretty poor job in that respect.  He needs to remedy that ASAP.

Yep. 100%.  This why we can’t even rule out a second half collapse, we have no pitching depth.

why not have Zimmerman start the inning?

With all the pitches he threw two nights ago, they didn't want to use him at all. That was an emergency because Akin's pitch count had skyrocketed the day after he pitched.

So I’m sure you were cool with him putting Ubaldo in instead of Britton cause we didn’t have a lead?

And once it got to 1st and 3rd none out with Edwin Encarnacion coming up, a sac fly wins the game for Toronto.  You have best Ground ball pitcher in baseball and you leave Ubaldo in who's leaving pitches up in the middle of the plate.

I have respect for Buck and am thankful for all the stuff he did for us.  But I will never understand that decision.

Akin has been bad here no doubt.

A better right fielder takes a better route and catches that ball. Not saying it was easy. But that’s on Hyde for not having a McKenna out there. It’s also non Santander for taking a poor route.

There’s plenty of blame to go around. And blaming Hyde for not putting in the defensive replacement he’s been putting in RF all year in late games doesn’t absolve Akin of any blame.

Santander COULD have done a better job there and maybe Hyde could have sent in McKenna or started Hicks in RF instead of Santander? But a better/decent pitcher there doesn't get absolutely obliterated in the 10th.

I'm assuming Baker was not available or maybe they were more worried about the lefty-lefty matchup even though their lefty sucks.

Baker has never pitched 3 days in a row before, at least in his major league career.
