I don't think we can.  I mean the pen is very top heavy with Felix.  Then there's a gap.  Coulombe.  Then Cano (he needs to earn his way back to the top as he has not been sharp for quite awhile).

After that there's a sizable gap and we have unreliable pitchers.

And of course our rotation doesn't inspire confidence.  It's amazing we are where we are.

We need SP and Relief, and probably another bat.

IMO we have potentially elite bats waiting in the wings in AAA in Kjerstad and Cowser. We just need to slot them into Hicks and O'Hearns spots in the lineup.

But otherwise, I agree on the pitching, we are not good enough right now.

Tough pitching the O's faced, and they were unable to punish the few mistakes they got.  That Henderson BP fastball down the middle where he doesn't even lift the bat off his shoulder was a killer.... Oh well, try and find a way to win tomorrow.  Not going to be easy as it's a tough matchup in Gray vs Irvin.

Pitching needs help,  no doubt.  But I feel too many are only focusing on our pitching woes while acting like the lineup is good enough.   Both need some changes and help.   We can argue, perhaps, which is more needed.  Our runs scored per game has dropped steadily since April, as has our amount of winning.   Coincidence?

Before the Twins series we were 8/9th in runs scored in the Majors. Once we replace O'Hearns and Hicks for Cowser and Kjerstad we will be fine as far as offense goes. There is no one that we have in the Minors that can come up and give us enough of a boost. No I don't think Grayson can do that right now based on the reports I have seen/read. He's getting better results there against AAA hitters but largely still doing the same stuff that cause him to be sent down.

Ortiz?

I see him as a more valuable piece to package in a trade for an impact starter. Ideally you would like to trade your vets, get something of value for them, and replace them by brining up your prospects. The problem for us is that our veteran infielders don't really have much value, if any at all.

We are going to have to figure out how to get some starting pitching help IMO. What we have now isn't going to cut it in October.

IMO, for the Baltimore Orioles, Joey Ortiz is a luxury not a necessity. We have some one in front of him (Henderson) who is better/much more talented and someone behind him who is better/much more talented in Holliday.

I said from the outset of this season that Gunnar should play his best defensive position and that’s SS. That alignment should be what they roll with for the remainder. Frazier has no business taking time from anyone and Mateo is a defensive specialist at best.

For the most part, that appears what they are phasing into. Right now, Mateo and Frazier are being placed in an unorthodox platoon, where only one will start depending on if it is a RH or LH starting pitcher that day.
