Agreed, but maybe they do care about salary to the extend that it will open up room to attempt to get Ohtani?

I dont want any trade invoving Holiday, cowser, kjerstad, mayo or westburg.  I dont think gambling with these guys this season makes sense.

Have they shown that they're remotely incapable of paying Ohtani, anyway?

Expecting the Mets to give their guys away is just people fooling themselves into thinking a pitcher like Verlander won't cost much prospect wise.

Yes, easily.  Gore and Abrams are already good Major Leaguers and James Wood is a top 3 prospect.
