I live in the Baltimore area in one of the most elite suburbs in the entire country. One of the wealthiest, most educated counties in the whole country. So I’m not sure what you are talking about.

The ONLY things that we don’t have is quick access to the beach like Southern California or year around warm weather. By any other metric where (one of the Baltimore suburbs) compares very favorable to ANY other place in the country.

The ONLY place near Houston that can compare is maybe Sugarland, TX.

Essex >>> Houston

I mean, if your WAG really mattered that much then Aaron Rodgers wouldn't have re-upped in Wis Freaking Consin for like 15 years despite having a list of girlfriends that reads like movie credits.

Yeah, but Justin Verlander actually likes to have sex with Kate Upton.  Therein lies the difference.

I'm sure they can convince the new owners of Cal's mansion to rent to them during baseball season and have  the loudest sex known to man and have nothing but horses within earshot of their escapades for a mile.

Baltimore has some great suburbs- of course, they only exist because of the flow of trillions of dollars into Washington D.C. from the rest of the country each year.

The city itself is dead.  It's one of the worst urban areas in a country full of self-imploding, decaying urban areas.

Baltimore is synonymous with crime, violence, and corruption across the nation.

The Verlanders are rich.  They'll live in a world few of us can comprehend no matter what city they're living in.

They still ain't coming to Baltimore.

Are you from Baltimore? Do you live in the area?

Of course Baltimore has problems like ALL major urban areas do (NY, LA, CHI, MIA, etc.). But there are areas here that are comparable/better than any other place in the country.

The Verlanders will be fine. There are plenty of pro and ex pro athletes who live in my community.

I hope that your opinion isn’t informed from infotainment (not saying it is). But Baltimore (the real metropolitan area) IS NOT the wire. That is a part of the underbelly of the city like all cities have. But there are fantastic places to live as well.

And as I mentioned if the Verlanders could manage in Houston, they will find places here that are much better/much more appealing that what that area has to offer.

Are you from Houston? Do frequent there often? Ever been in the Summer?

How would you feel about your marriage to Kate Upton if she spent a few months apart from you each year?

I’ve been in the Navy for 28 years - been married for 25. Just fine.

She has the money to get anywhere with about an hour’s notice. I’m sure they can scratch out time to see each other.

I don't disagree about Baltimore city proper, and the suburbs are a moot point because professional athletes don't care about school systems or the long-term considerations that middle-class Americans do. And Maryland isn't a destination. But I don't think the area is a "no-go" for athletes like Buffalo or Oklahoma City.

I think if you're 40 and filthy rich and still playing baseball, you want to win and add to your legacy. If he thinks the Orioles are in that position, then I don't think being married to a former model and having to move to Maryland is going to be prohibitive.
