Boston up on Tampa by 1 in the 8th.

We get 7 more with Boston. They have pitching issues but they can score a lot of runs. I doubt they can knock us out of the playoffs in the final 4 game series with them to end the year like we did to them 2011, but they'll be dangerous if TB is still only a game or two back and possibly push us out of the division lead if Toronto hasn't completely folded.

Fangraphs has the O’s with a 100% chance to make the playoffs, while BB-ref says >99.9%.   As of now, the 6th spot is at .558 winning percentage, which projects to 90-91 wins.  The O’s could go 7-19 and top that.   But, I’d rather they didn’t.

Yeah, I doubt we'd not win another game this season and miss the playoffs, I wouldn't be shocked if we can't get some separation with TBR that we don't win the division. They are in the midst of an 18-game in a row stretch iirc. Plenty of top pitching and desperate teams ahead of them.

Now is my first time noticing Tampa's Games 160-162 are at Toronto, so count me in for hoping the Blue Jays hang in the wildcard race until the final weekend.

TEX's older roster fighting it some in the dog days - tomorrow looks like they are returning Eovaldi for an Astros matchup without any rehab following a 6-week absence.     Scherzer the game after that for his Wednesday showdown with Verlander.     HOU took 7-4 lead in season series with TEX today to guarantee that tiebreaker.

Huge 4 game series TEX@TOR starts tomorrow. Hopefully for Orioles, MIN will be more help than SEA was. 7 teams for 6 spots

For conversation sake- assuming BAL wins at least one of 4 vs TB

If BAL goes 10-10, TB needs to go 13-5 to win division

  • eddie83 changed the title to AL Playoff Race - 9 weeks left- now 3 weeks

The next 7 games after STL will give us an idea of what to expect next month. Tampa and Houston is gonna be tough. Also I’m really not looking forward to that 4 game series with Boston to close the season. I feel better about our chances with the Rays than the Sox. Need to take care of business this weekend and we can coast.
