I think Elias sees something in his velocity and other stats on his pitches and thinks they spell potential success.  But Lopez is a mentally frazzled guy with no career track record of success at all.  Why are we depending on him in a pennant race?

The Rays entire bullpen is dumpster diving.  2 of the guys that pitched today in Littel and Stephenson were DFA guys just like Lopez.

yeah i see them just about wrapping it up in their next 6 home games and we will likely play .500 ball down the stretch

He didn't have to use Jorge in this case. Everyone but Baumann was rested and even Baumann could have pitched.
