I’m Celebrating Twenty (Plus?) Years of Hanging Out!

Great post(s).  I started lurking in 2007 and officially signed up in 2008.  I didn't' start to post until just a few years ago for fear of getting my head chopped off by a certain poster with a Duke avatar ;) I've learned so much from all the knowledgeable posters on this board, even (maybe even especially) from the ones I don't always agree with.  @Tony-OH has created any unbelievable community with so many great points of view and information sources.   Maybe someday I'll be able to put a face to a username lol, still haven't done a hangout night yet (do those still go down?).  Happy dark days of baseball winter to all. I can't wait to celebrate the under the radar and slightly irritating O's moves with you folks over the next few months.  Go O's.

I found the OH around the same time - during the 2003-2004 offseason looking for info on Vlad Guerrero who was rumored to be signing with Baltimore.  Sadly that was not to be, but I ended up lurking for several years anyway.  Those were the days before smartphones, twitter, even facebook.  The amount of concentrated O's information then was a revelation and probably hard to imagine for some of the younger posters here.

Congrats Frobby on 20 years and thanks for all the added value you've brought to the site.

I used to be jealous of all the "birds" that veteran posters had on the old board.  Best upgrade:  no birds on the new board.  😋

The secret back in the day was the music forums.  The more rep you had the more you could bestow and three heavyweights used to hang out there and be generous with the rep.

You beat me by a year and a month.   I knew the site existed and had visited on occasion but never stuck around.   Until one cold January night in 2006 and the Orioles traded John Maine for Kris Benson and I was unsure if it was a good deal or not and wanted to hear some knowledgable Oriole fan opinions.   I came on the board, got in discussions on the subject, and stuck around.  I think you had to be a paying member to have over 500 posts or something like that, was that right?   After a day or two here it became obvious I would want to go over that 500 mark so I ponied up.

Yeah, those post counts have been reset numerous times through the years.   I hate to think of how many times I’ve actually posted.

Just in case: my reply was to RZNJ, whom I trail by only a respectable 9,300-some posts, whereas I'm behind you by over 58,300 (and counting).

Moreover, I think you probably did witness Stu's Slow, Slower, and Slowest; he never had a bad season in his five with the O's (1963-68, ages 35-39), with ERA+'s from 125 to 184. Stu, Drabowsky, Dick Hall et al: sort of a kooky group.

Do you think you or Sports Guy has the most posts?  I remember Sports Guy had over 100k posts on the old board.

Well, SG did spot me 5-6 years somewhere in there.  He was 40-50 K ahead of me at one time.
