Yeah I said something in the Webb injury thread.  At this point its a battle to see who's pitcher 25-30 on the roster is best, it seems.  And maybe more than 30....

The way it's been going lately a team is going to having an A ball pitcher throwing out of the pen.  The O's started the year w/ what they thought were 9 starters who could pitch in the majors, they are down to Burnes, Kremer and Suarez.  Irvin was DFA'ed.  Povich returned to the minors d/t ineffectiveness, and the rest were injured.  The pitching staff has a higher casualty rate than the Eastern Front.

It is no doubt that Orioles pitching injuries have not only mounted up, but has hit some crucial starters and relievers since Bautista went down last August. This is why it's important to have a bunch of arms that are major league caliber and may be why Elias may need to adjust his drafting philosophy soon. 

Plus, these guys only have so many bullets in their arms. Makes me wonder if McDermott was used as a reliever this year, would he have been able to help this pen, and would he had he held up all season?

I can understand picking Honeycutt with the first round pick, but the 2nd pick should have been a pitcher.  O'Ferrell looks like he has utility player risk, and even if he doesn't, where does he play?  Seems like 3B and 2B are sown up for a long time and it's likely he's not a MLB SS   I would have like to have seen Brecht, if not Brecht, maybe a pitcher w/ high velo that could end up in the bullpen in 2025 at some point.

Why?  Don’t pitcher injuries point out why Elias feels comfortable just drafting the bats and growing them to buy rental 1-2 yr SP?

It’s not ideal, but it’s Elias staying in his lane, sticking to what he knows, and accepting that he will have to pay the price later. 

I think we’ll see a different type of AAA team next year. We’ll see more of a 4A taxi squad. This is why we can’t get upset when we sign a Julio Terehan type.

I thought he had a chance to be a bullpen option down the stretch before he got hurt.

Encouraging development.    Playoff roster sneak attack?     He was a piece if he wasn't off the chess board.

Obviously the ballclub has more context if his return to status is more like Zach Eflin's, or if the reset was big enough last night was like his first game of spring training.

I think it is always nice if a player with a late season injury can flush it before the off-season.
