Gunnar gave up a cycle last year when he needed a single and legged out a double. Don't think he cares.

Not directly, of course, but it could have come through in his tone or body language. He's either got a good poker face, or he really didn't care. It's just an observation.

I'm hoping that Gunnar can be that player that we can argue is the best player in the game.  Has there been an Oriole that you can really say is in the discussion for the very best players in baseball since Ripken in the prime of his career?  Tejada was great offensively, but he wasn't on Cal's level defensively.  There is something extra when you have a homegrown star vs. a free agent who just signed because you offered the biggest contract.

I would say that in the history of the Os teams, it’s the five guys with statues inside OP@CY (Cal, Eddie, Brooks, Frank, Jim) and Mussina.  Maybe 2015-2016 Manny.  That’s the list.  Well and maybe Burnes this year too.

Agreed totally on the first two sentences. As to the last, the cost will be high obviously but we are not paying anyone currently so it is definitely doable.

We can import the player from the moon for all I care. If they have on an Orioles jersey and they are excellent and help us win, I don’t care whether they are drafted by us, traded for by us, or signed as an FA.

I will enjoy Burnes dominate this season, no less than I enjoy Grayson.
