Why does the "they are blocked here" a good excuse for doing this deal? It's a terrible trade based on the PLAYERS themselves, not whether they are blocked or not. Do better Elias...

I think calling up Vavra is just temporary until Elias is sure that Mayo isn't traded by tonight. Which tells me he is still in some talks for at least one BIG name (Skubal, Vladdy, Snell, Scott, Miller, etc.)

If he doesn't move Mayo, then I am guessing by mid next week Vavra is back down or let go (not sure where he is with options) and Mayo is called up. I think Elias doesn't want to trade Mayo, unless it is a HUGE acquisition. Not even sure some of the names I mentioned are big enough to trade Mayo ... but that's just my opinion, I guess

Yes I've watched Suarez over the last 6 weeks. And I'm not arguing that Rogers isn't potentially an upgrade over Suarez (over the entire season so far, Suarez has outpitched Rogers).

But you're comment was would I rather have Povich and my comment was that Povich wasn't the option.

I didn't have Vavra replacing Norby.   The news got posted on this thread and I read it.

Prog fans are all weird to begin with and they love gatekeeping and making lists.

But one thing is certain you try and compare anything and you end up with Rush fans jumping in to support their big three.

The would definitely be the type to move vinyls of Hemispheres in front of the Yes albums in the record store.

 

Most actual artists I know don't stan for prog bands all that much.

unlike most of you guys, I don’t mind parting with Norby. But for me Stowers hurts. I will bet you that Stowers becomes a real star in miami. Hopefully we can get Roger’s back to his rookie season form. And he’s controllable for a while. I think it’s a reasonable deal, although I think Stowers should have egotten much more run in Baltimore. I hope I’m right, I hope he tears it up in Miami. Guy deserves the chance, and he was never going to get it here

At this point, I'd rather leave Westburg at 3B and call up Holiday to play 2B. People don't tend to return from elbow injuries like Mateo had very quickly.

Yes, Suarez and Povich really shouldn't be grouped together, Povich does not look like a big leaguer currently- but to me Rogers is a rotation upgrade over both. The clock has started to strike 12 on Suarez as a starter, and I like him a lot on this team, I just hope he can regain his place in the bullpen.

One of the worst trades on the surface I can think of this year. Hope we are all proven wrong.

I was (and am still) more into songwriting and tasteful guitar and vocal harmonies that I was in technical ability. Rush never appealed to me, but I think it was more about Geddy's voice that ran me away. I am a mimic of sorts, and for laughs I can break into a "living in the limelight" goof from time to time. But I can only name two songs of theirs, that and Tom Sawyer. 

Neil Young, Beatles, Velvet Underground, NRBQ, Kinks, Squeeze, Marshall Crenshaw, dB's and Big Star were my bag in college.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm ok with this trade. No guarantee Snell or Skubal are even available . We still have our top 3 prospects, who I don't want to trade. Now we need to go get a decent reliever somehow, and I think we're fine.

They traded extra players for a legit ML pitcher. 

And I bet they're not done, but this deal in a vacuum is fine.
