Billy Bean RIP

Billy Bean passed away today after a year long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.   Not to be confused with Billy Beane, the former A’s GM.   See below.

I saw people commenting that this is not "Moneyball" Billy Beane.

Wow, I had never realized that were 2 different ballplayers that became baseball executives named Billy Beane and Billy Bean.  Close to each other in age, too.

This is the Billy Bean that was the second MLB player to come out as gay. 

He later became the league’s senior vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

It’s all in the thread, thanks to your post, so I decided not to be redundant.  Obviously, still an important figure in MLB history.
