This sucks too because the Orioles can't beat the Royals and the Ravens can't beat the Chiefs. Kansas City is definitely Baltimore's daddy

I get the Chiefs part. But who can beat them? Or should I say who has beaten them consistently w Patty Mahomes?

The 2024 Royals?? Uh no. They are absolutely NOTHING special! Do you think we would have fared ANY better against Skubal and the Tigers? Skubal might have thrown a no hitter against us today.

Nothing. But the construction and lack of additions speaks to the philosophy of actually having a championship bar or a "good enough" bar.

The guy closing for KC could have easily been ours. Yet we chose reclamation projects or other teams 🗑

We could have tried to acquire an experienced RHH bat knowing how vulnerable we have been against even decent LHP. But we did what we did.

This hits it on the head.

Are you going to make me dig the all of the roster moves from the offseason and deadline? lol

Off the top of my head Justin Turner/JD Martinez were experienced RH bats that could have been acquired. They are nowhere near what they once were. But they have playoff experience and usually hit LHP.

No I dont you want you to dig up the trade deadline. You said yourself those 2 were past their best. Could they have made a differnce, maybe. What i want to do is surrender to  an old Track axiom, when youre not going to win youre not going to win.And you can move all the pieces around the chess baord that you want. They were not going to win today. They did not score.

No my reference is that the Royals knocked the Orioles out in 2014 and will probably do so again tomorrow and the Chiefs have the Ravens number since Mahomes came into the league. Bottom line Baltimore teams have not fared well at all against KC teams especially in big games and thus my daddy reference.

That's what Holliday, Henderson, Kjerstadt, Mayo, Basallo (sp?), Westburg and Adley are supposed to be. That's the principle on which the team was built -- add them to Santander and MC and you've got a potent offense. My understanding/impression, anyway.

Except that hasn’t happened.. yet.  We hit home runs.  Except in playoffs when we don’t

Ps.... Tom Brady did well against Mahomes and Burrow has held his own.

This is so correct. I agree 1000 percent. But I truly don't think JD Martinez was available at the deadline as the Mets were making their run too. The time to have gotten him was the off season when he sat out there for awhile but too many people including Elias gets fixated on just having home grown talent.

Exactly.  These guys were supposed to be our reward for so much bad baseball.   These are dlsupposed to be the studs, the knights in shining armour, the superstars that put up crazy numbers in the minor leagues, that bring this franchise back to glory.   So far,  the start of this window of opportunity looks like it's all hat and no cattle.

Yeah I thought they had a chance to be the next Astros but Instead this is all I think we will get out of that

Let me put it this way. I would rather have Justin Turner batting at his advanced age with a runner in scoring position against a LHP than James McCann (and to be honest even Adley Rutschman right now). Those 2 horrid ABs by McCann (with RISP) were the difference in us scoring today or not.

Adley was the problem on the stolen base that led to the run too.

He was framing a pitch vs popping up to throw the runner out. Then he throws on the wrong side of the base.

Everything about that was embarrassingly bad.

When you add in his turd at bats, and he was absolute chokingly bad.

Well let's not pretend that  he probably keeps an eye on Witt throughout the season and thinks oh ..t this guy is embarrassing me . Which he has done this year.

I agree!

This series isn't over yet (though I am not confident at all). But I don't see a scenario where we are going to "homegrown" our way to a championship. We have some serious holes to fill in the offseason.

Just totally painful to watch.  This team can pitch, field and hit but somehow has an ability to have a total void of one if another is strong.  My prediction tomorrow is a 12-8 loss trailing by 3 early.

Gotta maintain that massive 4 rpg average.

GOD XXXX IT.

You could be right but I think they go down meaky again 4-1

    • Will Gunnar, Adley and company ever win a single playoff game in an Os uniform? It’s become a valid question. Nothing leads me to believe that they will.
    • Norby is RH. What we needed were LH bats against Ragan's reverse splits.  Norby's .732 is lower than Urias's .745. I don't see any reason to think his bat would have been the difference, and Urias was excellent in the field today.
    • 41.5k. For a last minute day/time before the end of a work day with crappy weather. Pretty damn solid for a WC game.
    • They were saving him for when the thought he was needed most with lefties up they probably pull it so going 1st to 3rd in Camden Yards isn’t usually a smart move with right fielders so close.   If it was to pinch run or possibly have to hit.  They were two spots away from getting to the pitcher spot where you would want a lefty to face Ercg.  As I have said lefties up you like to leave the hole between first and second unless you know it is an easy steal.  If he tries to steal and gets thrown out people are mad you made an out on the base paths and didn’t give the hitters a chance.  It all risk reward.
    • Yeah after a rough stretch there Burnes has certainly turned things around. Depending what they do in the off season this rotation is going to be a mess with no Burnes, Bradish and with GRod always breaking down and then add this non clutch hitting offense in there to boot and I say Elias has his work cut out for him  big time to get this team back to the playoffs.. I know in my mind I'm a what have you done for me lately guy and this second half is what will stick in my mind not 2023 or the first half.
    • or at DH, since apparently we don't have someone who can hit to play DH
    • You have left handed batters so you don’t steal to leave open the hole.  They also are not gonna hut a fly ball you can tag up on to right field in Camden Yards.  O’Hearn is a decent runner that has very good baseball instincts it isn’t like it was Jiminez he is pinch running for.
