After 20 years in the booth together, Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are on the way out as ESPN’s broadcast team for Sunday Night Baseball. The network has declined to renew Morgan’s contract. Miller is being given the option of staying on as the play-by-play radio voice on Sunday night.

Oh the mixed emotions! :old5fan:

For those that never heard Miller on the radio - he was a great radio announcer. He could make a game in which the O's were losing big still interesting to listen to. I loved his Vin Scully impression.

Vin Scully = Best ever. Not even close.

Agree on Scully. It's mind-boggling to think that Vin's been the voice of he Dodgers since their IF had Gil Hodges, Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese. Roy Campanella was behind the plate and Duke Snider hit 31 HR Vin's first season behind the mic.

Jon Miller is still pretty darn good IMO. Wish he was back with the Orioles.

    • If Mateo can OPS .700, he’d probably be a top 3-5 2nd basemen in the AL the rest of his contract. WAR wise. His range and arm strength is incredible there.  Just a coincidence that Brian Roberts was calling this game and Roberts career was ruined from concussions. Self inflicted. I hope Jorge is ok. I’m sure Mullins feels terrible.
    • Baker’s ERA is down to 7.58 at Norfolk.
    • Krook posted great stats in May. Being left handed, I doubt they see him as a 1 for 1 replacement for Vieira. A possible call up for Akin, to give him a light load and rest for 10 days, maybe. But I don't think they'd want to lose Akin for 10 games.
    • A couple thoughts…. Jorge Lopez’s son has some serious issues and is on a transplant list. This is why he went on the IL in Minnesota for mental health reasons.  It’s hard to blame Hyde for any bullpen decisions considering the pen 10.1 IP scoreless the over Friday and Saturday.  The last spot of the pen needs to be used with this team. I prefer the Norfolk Shuttle nightly versus even my boy Jorge Lopez. Krook, Baker, etc… are not projects.
    • Norby deserves a shot though. Plus the lineup is already fairly balanced between right and left, no need to go out of your way to insure a left handed hitting 2B.
    • Again, I'm don't know everything about him, and I appreciate that Elias and the Orioles know him much better than I do, but I do have some concerns that whatever he's going through may make his performance volatile.  Is he better than Viera (who I just don't understand why the Orioles are eating a roster spot for), sure, but the Orioles are big on their clubhouse atmosphere and if Lopez is not a fit for whatever reason, I'm ok with them passing on him. If they think it's not an issue, then I'm ok with them bringing him on. Either way, they can't keep going into series down a reliever as long as Viera can only pitch in mop up roles.
