    • Moderators don't scare me.  If this isn't the place, then so be it.  You do what you feel is necessary.   That's his nickname.  He commented last week he liked it.  Someone else did too.  If that's breaking the rules then I won't do it.   He is the one that claimed, falsely, I've never criticized Povich.  Hence the reason that specific response - filled with FACTS - was for him, so he could see it.   I'm not family or a friend.  I've explained my reasoning for being here.  And it'll happen with Braxton Bragg as well. Then again when the O's draft or trade for another former Husker.  If you're actually interested in knowing then go thru my early posts where I explained it.  More than once, too. Me communicate calmly?  It's a message board.  You came at me with a ridiculous accusation.  That response was filled with FACTS.
    • They all have the extra year now. Holliday has the extra year too. I dont think Elias is playing that game with Mayo. He wants to see some improvement defensively.
    • Have to assume that the FO is seeing the same thing you are Tony, hence the relatively quick move up to AAA.  Exciting stuff.
    • Would the last 600 PAs stretch back to last year to his issues with vertigo?
    • Sure it is.  Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not an explanation.
    • Ron Shandler's people at Baseball Forecaster had something new in their 2024 annual trying to serve fantasy players in weekly leagues - it segmented playing time into Active Weeks out of 26, and then measured per week volume in plate appearances and/or games played.     Having watched the Rays try to MacGyver their way past the Yankees most of the past decade with spare parts, I've gotten to like 300 PA per season.    2023 that's 293 guys, 2022 it is 277 guys, 2021 it is 262 - it is steady around 9 guys per Club, and most everyone else is replacement players except when Gunnar Henderson is getting 125 at-bats.
    • I've been following since I heard about his spin rates and velocity two years ago. I kind of dropped him off after last season at Bowie when he just really didn't command anything and lefties lit him up for a .287/.415/.475/.890. It appears to me that he's ditched the slider with the bigger downward break and gone to this cutter with the quick late break.  All I know is that he was impressive the couple times I watched him this year and the improvements are seen in the stats with the lack of walks and high K rate.  How good is that spin on the cutter? Only 7 major league pitchers have averages above his 2677 spin rate. They include Corbin Burnes, Dylan Cease, Sonny Gray, and JP France.  It appears to me that he throw two different type of cutters, with one being slower and having slider movement.  He threw 12 cutters: 8 had 0-7 inches of Horizontal movement and 23-30 Vertical movement 4 had 12-19 inches of Horizontal movement and 30-33 Vertical movement The highest average horizontal movement in the MLB is by 7.3 inches by Chris Flexen (so the 12-19 inches of horizontal are off the charts by cutter standards) Vertical movement is supposed to be a lower number like a fastball so the best is 14.3 by David Robertson.  It's hard to even find a comp for Strowd's cutter velocity and vertical wise. When I look at major league movement on cutters and sliders, it appears to me that he's throwing a sorta hybrid cutter/slider which may be given batters fits because they are not use to seeing that.  Either way, he's become real interesting.
