1. Adam Jones is traded to the Phillies. Dominic Brown is part of the package coming to Baltimore.

2. The Orioles have 8 players hit more than 15 home runs. (Reynolds, Hardy, Jones, Markakis, Johnson, Reimold, Betemit and Wieters.)

3. The Orioles are buyers and sellers at the trade deadline.

4. The Orioles finish the season with an OBP above .340 for the first time since 2004.

5. The Orioles eclipse the 200 Home Run mark for the first time since 1999.

6. The Orioles pitching staff pitches to a team ERA less than 4.5 for the first time since 2002.

7. The Orioles have 1 starter eclipse 15 W's, and 3 others with more than 10.

8. The Orioles finally finish above .500 and do not finish last in the division.

Let's get real. This is a horrible team in a home run park in the toughest division in Baseball.

1. Orioles win 59 games; losing over 100 for the first time since 1988.

2. The Orioles trade both Nick Markakis and Adam Jones by the trade deadline

3. No starter wins 10 games.

4. The Orioles commit 124 errors, lead by Mark Reynold's 38.

5. The Orioles have 15 different pitchers start games for them in 2012.

6. The Orioles pitching staff pitches to a team ERA greater than 5.2 for the first time since 2006.

7. The Orioles pitching staff gives up the most home runs in A.L. history, eclipsing the 1996 Detroit Tiger's 241.

Mark Reynolds isn't in the top 3 for MLB strikeouts.

O's finish in 4th, above .500-- Blue Jays in 5th

Matusz, Jones, and Wieters are All-Stars

Jones is traded at the deadline.

Wieters is known as "the best catcher in the majors" and finishes top 5 in MVP (Hey he does play for the O's)

If the Orioles finish above .500 why would they trade jones at the deadline?

Is this all serious???

If by "bold" you mean "homer", then your picks are very, very bold.

I mean, come on. Baltimore is worse than every team you mentioned for the #1 pick next year except Houston.

If the O's have 2 all starts it will almost certainly be Wieters and Jones. Probably one of them though.

Looks like Toronto will be your new 2008 Rays, refusing to believe them to be any good, even if they lock up a post-season spot. If they get off to a 2011 Cleveland style start, they will make the postseason.

My bold prediction...Nats win the NL East.

I don't think you can say with any certainty the O's are better or worse than half those teams. The O's are bad, but they have company. Yeah, Minnesota and Seattle improved over the off season, but both those teams were worse than the O's last year even though no one expected them to be. KC and SD were barely better than the O's and both teams, while improving, still have major flaws (KC has little pitching, SD has little hitting). Any number of teams could be worse than the O's this year against the expectations of most. I think the O's will be better this year, and I base that on the pitching performances from Spring Training. Not all little bits of optimism about the O's are based on prayers to to Baby Jesus.

Matusz has a winning record by the All Star Break while Arrieta struggles.

Markakis and Jones both hit better than the last couple years prior to the All-Star Break. Neither are traded.

By the end of June Brian Roberts is back with the O's but is back on the DL by August.

The O's battle for 3rd or 4th place most of the season before falling back to last place the end of August and then battling for 4th place again at the end of the year.

Machado will not see any Major League playing time this year.

Reimold hits for an OPS of >.800

Britton doesn't throw a ML inning this year

Reynolds is moved at the deadline and Flaherty takes over 3rd base

Hardy hits just as well as last year

Chen and Wada can't stay healthy

Wieters takes over as the undisputed best catcher in baseball

Paulino plays more ML games than Teagarden

Without reading past the first two posts:

The Orioles have 3 players with 30+ HR's and 6 with 20+... one of them hits the top 10 AL MVP. Orioles win 83 games (which may or may not include ST)

Three teams end the regular season tied for the two WC spot (based on record) and the tie-breaker rules create some commotion logistically and critically.

Matt Wieters speaks 4 different languages in an interview at the AS game.

An unofficial tradition begins during Oriole Park's 20th season when the Red Sox are in town....fans bringing in their own bucket of chicken receive their very own 20th season OPACY commemorative cork. They also receive vouchers for free beer and discounts on whine through the first 7 innings. :new_beer:

    • There probably was no "right" choice and absolutely no "absolutely right choice" I was on record wanting to choose Abrahms and my logic was simple, a 1:1 is a chance to pick a HOF type talent A college catcher was a safe pick and Adley is having a nice career but he is clearly not a MVP/HOF type player.
    • Agreed, Akin is pitching too well to be optioned until there’s no other choices. Tate should certainly be optioned before him. The only reason I could see Akin needing to be optioned is if BOTH Means and Irvin end up in the pen (with Bradish, Kremer and Suárez starting). That’s possibly the best 5 SP right now if they believe Suárez > Means/Irvin. In which case you really can’t have 5 lefty RP and only one RHP to go with Kimbrel and Cano. Otherwise, they should carry 4 lefty RP (with one of Means/Irvin as the long man) before optioning Akin.
    • The answer to the question is obviously no. Now if the question was would Gunnar have been worthy #1 pick the answer seems obvious that he would have been.    But taking him where he went allowed the Orioles to maximize their draft which is what every team hopes to do.    You can argue whether Adley was the right pick but if Gunnar went first there is no way the two picks work as well for Baltimore.
    • 1080i video is redrawn a half frame (field) at 60 times per second.  Progressive footage like 1080p is 30 whole frames per second but often converted to interlaced format for transmission. If you are doing this on an ongoing basis, here's a suggestion: download the free version of one of the numerous non-linear editors out there like Avid or DaVinci Resolve and throw the clip on a timeline for your measurement.  Manually clicking through hundreds of frames seems like it would be needlessly cumbersome not to mention slow.
    • This. I don’t get the Akin going down talk (even though it seems more based off his option remaining than performance). Right now Akin is arguably our 4th most trusted reliever (can argue with Webb) based off his usage and his peripherals are clearly in the top 4 with Cano, Kimbrel, and Coulombe. He might not be a setup guy but he’s a solid piece to have in the middle innings.   Akin’s K-BB% is nearly double that of Baumann’s in both of their careers as relievers. He K’s more, walks less, and gets more chases and whiffs.   Keeping Baumann over Akin even for a week isn’t a move that winning teams make. Not to trash him, but Baumann is just not good, so who cares if he gets claimed? He’s not trusted at this point late in close games unless the bullpen is overused, so if you lose him and need a replacement later in the year you have Heasley, Charles, and Tate (if he gets optioned). Then you also have Wells who should be a bullpen guy when he comes back. Having the flexibility is good but keeping one of your worst relievers just because he doesn’t have an option doesn’t seem like a good way to solve a log jam.
    • Witt had hit tool questions on draft day, and Abrams was much less of a sure thing than Adley. Based on information known at the time, we absolutely made the right choice with Adley.
