Since McCann isn't really mashing lefties they could be doing the rotation based on pitcher. Just a thought. -
That helps explain today's lineup. Why not go one step further and put Mateo in CF, bench Mullins, and play Urias at 2B? I still think it is obvious that Stowers and Norby don't figure into management plans for the future and Kjerstad is iffy. Why not deal them now while we need help on the staff? -
Sure. It’s just that in this sport, the rate of pitching injuries is so bad teams are trying to hoard as many arms as possible. Baumann would still be around if these pitching injuries happened a week ago. -
It would suck. The only upside I could probably find is that we'd likely not be competing for a WS title so they might give extended looks to some of the kids and hope for next year. It would be a bummer to have wasted 2 players on Burnes, but it is what it is. -

Eh, Povich was almost certainly going to debut at some point this season regardless and we have a few chaff players on the 40 man like Ort and Heasley. I doubt they're worried about the 40 man. -
For his 532 inning career, Flexen has extreme reverse splits. Righthanded hitters OPS an amazing .869 against him, while lefties have OPSed .723. So those of you wondering why McCann and Hays are in the lineup, but Adley, Cowser, and Stowers aren't, probably need look no farther than that stat. We maxed out on RH batters almost as much as possible, the only righty on the bench is Urias. -
When I saw Stowers and Cowser and Adley on the bench, and Hays and McCann and Mountcastle playing, it made me wonder if Flexen had reverse splits. And sure enough, he does. He's a righthanded pitcher but for his 532 inning career, righthanded hitters have a massive .869 (!!!) OPS against him, while lefties have OPS'ed .723.
