Fio clamed by A's

On a personal note, I hope we re-claim Fio. He is an intense student of the game and a joy to be around. If he could only put on some more muscle - but his genes don't want to cooperate.

[Why Not?]

Having trade value is a relative term. Not saying that he would have been a key piece in acquiring Jones or something, but with more than one team showing that he is worth a risk, that does establish value.

He could have been traded for another team's non-prospect, but if teams had interest in claiming him, he did in deed have value. If he passed through waivers and then was signed as a FA, then I would agree with you.

I don't think picking a guy up on waivers is considered a risk. He's an interchangable part and his value is that he could be acquired for nothing. There are a dozen similar guys floating around baseball at any time.
