Hardy Har Har Har. Barry Bonds used steroids and HGH. Show me someone who used amphetamines who got the boost that he did. That's laughable.

Yea, don't let any actual medical studies get in the way.

Bonds' head got big! Oh Noes! Steroids!

Considering that there isn't a list of who did and didn't drink the leaded coffee over the last few decades it would be kinda hard to come up with actual numbers as to it's historical impact now wouldn't it?

Just like we don't know how much difference the steroid use in the 70's and 80's made. Since back then guys heads didn't get bigger.

We have a pretty good case study in Bonds but keep your head in the sand and believe what makes you feel comfortable. Did Bonds go from great player at age 35 to best of all time from 35-39? All of the reports have him starting to use the BALCO stuff around 99-2000. It doesnt' fit your agenda so you don't want to believe it.

Simply, some of the greats used Greenies during their career.

P.S. It's a waste of time to argue with people on your side of this argument on this. Anyone who doesn't think that Bonds went from great to FANTASTIC in his late 30's BECAUSE of HGH and STEROIDS, well there just isn't any reasoning with them.

Of course he did. And everybody knows that. A monumental difference from dabling in speed. Hightened attention vs. Monster Body. A difference.

Sure, but so did everyone else probably. Did greenies turn Mickey Mantle from good to great? We don't know. Probably not. We have a pretty good idea what HGH and steroids did for Sosa, Bonds, and McGwire. Some people feel better saying they are the same thing.

What about Aaron? His aging curve looks suspicious don't you think?

Guys used in the 70's and 80's too.

The thing with Bonds is you had a perfect storm, you had an all time great who was already a workout/nutrition freak who got the best minds in the PED industry to work with him. BTW I am pretty sure he was abusing greenies as well.

Sounds like you are one of those guys that didn't mind steroids as long as it wasn't too obvious.

Yea, I can't see a situation where heightened reflexes and attentiveness could be useful in baseball.

Being able to play an extra 5 games a year over a 20 year career isn't helpful at all right?

Who needs another 400 at bats to compile numbers?

Adderall is used to give people with ADD focus. I think the value is way overblown. People who have the condition should be able to get prescription period.

Pete Rose admitted to using them in 1979, wonder what his career would have been like if Charlie Hustle didn't use greenies.

MLB thinks there is a difference.

Sure, if they actually have the condition.

Of course the percentage of MLB players diagnosed with the condition is markedly higher then the rest of the population.

My guess is he won't get further then reading the headline.

I don't know Can if Cruz would live up to an extension if the O's offered one. I am

glad he is on the team but not wanting to see the O's do that. But who knows

what DD will do?

I think the O's have higher priorities then extending Cruz.

I do think he has had a great season with the bat so far and he seems to be popular with his teammates.

    • Saturday's game was epically bad and not the type of loss a team on the upswing into the playoffs would suffer and one that I certainly hate to witness. I couldn't watch most of the game Sunday, but I wouldn't DVR it and then peek at the score either, I don't think that I would ever watch if I knew the outcome of a game in advance. The surprise elation (Gunnar's bases loaded double) and the agony of the non-send and inability to hit a sac fly is what keeps me coming back, old fool that I am.
    • Predicting what the attendance will do next year is like predicting Hurrican season in January.  There are so many outside factors that it is just a guess.  How will they finish the year, how much will the spend in the offseason, how many corporations want to get ticket plans,   how is the economy in 6 months, how do they play next season what teams we play and when, will teams like Red Sox, Yankees and big draws play well.   I also think one of the biggest factors is what corporations want to sponsor give aways and what time of promotions will they run.  If you look at attendance some of the largest attendance games minus the Phillies, Yankees games are for the best giveaway souvenirs.
    • I’m a big supporter of Brandon Hyde, but the last game against Detroit I think he made a mistake. Second and third, nobody out….I would have had mullins bunt. He’s a good bunter, and with holiday at third I think that’s walk off.
    • So I guess Ohtani decided he was bored this year since he wasn’t pitching or playing the field, and decided to steal bases just to have something else to do besides hit.
    • I’d say maybe they would have reached 2013 levels (2.357 mm), which would have been about another 76,000 fans.  I seriously doubt they would have reached 2014 (2.464 mm, another 183,000 fans).
    • Great point. You are right Frobby. It wouldn't have been quite as bad if the Orioles dropped these series and they had to face Skubal both times but to be fortune enough not to get him either time and still lose 4 of 6 was even more disheartening.
    • Pretty much exactly what I am thinking.  I even had to cut back on my watching the games because the frustration was killing me.  Now I save all games on DVR and peek at the score if it is safe to watch.  This is odd because when the Orioles suck and they are far below .500 I watch every single game.  Sometimes every single inning of the year.   Crazy if the Orioles had STARTED the year sucking and had to spend the last two months in an amazing race to catch up for a chance for the playoffs we would all be thrilled.   But end the season on a three month skid of misery and the same playoff spot just feels empty.
