Course the fact he more than a year removed from his TJ surgery has something to do with it.

If anything it just confirms that DD was right about the kid....he can pitch ...bad luck he spent his time with us injured

Can't wait for Yoon to tear up the league in 2015!

If he was on his second contract I'd be a little more bent about it. I don't have much of a problem with it now. I also don't begrudge a kid in his early 20's the chance to make a poor decision or two. I think the implication that he's doing something illegal is unseemly.

I just don't care for many of his choices. I have no idea how legal his life is.

    • Its a real shame. We knew there we were probably on borrowed time with Means and unfortunately, it appears he did not hold up. This reminds my of the Matt Riley situation. He came back, was never fully right, then blew it back out and needed a second surgery. Came back and was never even close to the guy before both surgeries. And that was at a younger age than Means. I hope he can maybe undergo some PRP treatments and maybe come back by the last two months of the season and still help out, but I think anything we get from him from here on out is gravy. Saying that, I'm ok going forward with a Burnes, Bradish, GRodriguez, Kremer, Irvin rotation.  Povich obviously could also be in the mix, but I think they will go back to a 5-man rotation and bring up Heasley unless they want to keep working on stretching him out as a starter. That would mean Dillon Tate would probably be coming back for mop up/low leverage work.
    • I don't know if the Orioles would go through with this plan, but Mullins is badly in need of a reset. This is his stat line since July 1st last season through yesterday. In 360 plate appearances Mullins is batting .199/.246/.360 with a 67 wRC+. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/cedric-mullins-ii/17929/game-log?position=OF&gds=2023-07-01&gde=2024-05-22&season=
    • Hal to the NY Post, as reported on MLB Now this afternoon: "I'm gonna be honest, payrolls at the levels we're at right now are simply not sustainable for us financially...   We've got a considerable amount of money coming off* next offseason...  We didn't have a considerable amount of money coming off last offseason, which is why we're at where we're at." *Clay Holmes and Gleyber Torres, as well as the big fish This year's division race will be thrilling, but I do think there's a chance this is the best Yankees team in awhile, while we're still experimenting with if we don't experience any asset loss deploying veterans instead of some of the world's strongest young players.
    • Honestly with Hays, Mullins, Santander, and Mountcastle all struggling, it's a window where Stowers should be starting near daily.
    • They also ground out to second and first a ton.  Almost every Gunnar out that isn't a K seems like a ground out to second or first.  BTW I was looking Gunnar's Savant page and interestingly he would have only 8 homers at Fenway (not related, just interesting).
    • He was serious, and don't call him Shirley! This works a lot better verbally!
