The team that knew him best wouldn't guarantee a fifth year, according to reports. The Angels rushed in with five years and no strings, much to the chagrin of Rangers GM Jon Daniels.

It may be interesting to some that the player's current team did not offer the extra year, but the Hamilton contract stunk when it was signed and would have been a four year albatross to the Rangers if it did not become the five year stinker for the Angels.

In other words, what's the big deal about the extra year when the contract would have been a flat loser for any team in the high end of Hamilton's free agent bidding?
