Bud Norris 2015

Is he injured? If not, it must be a confidence thing. Remember when Chuck Knoblauch suddenly couldn't throw to first anymore? He needs to go down to the minors to get his confidence fixed (assuming it's not an injury).

Is his velocity down? Is so, yes could be hurt.

Otherwise 2nd inning in Toronto is always suspicious. They use the 1st inning to figure out the signs then use that in the 2nd.

No conspiracy about this one. Norris has been over exposed pitching in the AL East. He faced a lineup with only 4 lefties today. So it's not even that. He's just not that good and Toronto right now has the best lineup in baseball. Just another thing that sucks about being in the AL East.

I'm not sure.

Either way, the Orioles need to address this if it continues (if they haven't already been doing do.)

That makes zero sense. He was great against the A.L. East last year. Are you saying that all of a sudden, all of the A.L. East teams got together and figured out the secret to bombing Bud Norris?

Agreed, RZNJ.

In February of 2014, Norris stated in an interview that there were reasons why he had a mediocre/sub-par 2013 season after he was traded from the Astros to the Orioles ...... and then asserted that we would see a "new" Bud Norris in 2014:

FROM FEBRUARY, 2014:

I posted this article in Larry TT's "The Big 5 Starters ... not so Bad" thread.

It is from last Tuesday. It is in regard to why Norris feels that he will pitch more effectively in the upcoming season than what we saw of him in his two months with the club in 2013 ....... he's ready to show the Orioles and their fans his "true self."

Norris Looking to Show O's True Self in 2014

Righty is comfortable, prepared as new season approaches.

Norris then proceeded to back up his assertion(s) with his pitching.

These are the difference in his numbers in his 2 seasons an Orioles pitcher after being acquired from the Astros 2/3 of the way into the 2013:

Norris as an Oriole in 2013:1 4-3, 114.80 ERA, 11.678 WHIP

Norris as an Oriole in 2014:1 15-8, O3.65 ERA, 11.216 WHIP

If it were simply a matter of him being exposed by the other A.L. East teams, then his mediocre/sub-par 2013 season would have continued right on through into 2014.

As it actually stands, Bud apparently made some serious adjustment and/or recovered from the injury that he claimed that was plaguing him in 2013 to have a very good 2014 season ...... and now in 2015, he is even worse than he initially was when we first acquired him in 2013.

Norris has either lost confidence, lost velocity, has an injury that he is not making public, or a combination of all of the above. But I don't think that "being exposed/figured out by the other A.L. East teams" is the explanation.

Lots of folks with a 12 run lead can pitch like Christy Mathewson.`

He didn't pitch like Christy Mathewson when he had a 12-run lead.

In fact, he gave up the 3-run home run when he had the 12-run lead.

He pitched well in the previous 6 innings, when he had (by innings), no lead, no lead, a 1-run lead, a 7-run lead, a 9-run lead, and a 10-run lead.

Looked great yesterday until he ran out of gas there trying to sneak through the 7th. Much better command, pitching to contact.

I still think he was pitching up in the zone.

That ball Ortiz crushed to deep center would have been a HR in Boston.

Delmon got a couple of warning track balls too.

I love Bud, but I think he got away with some yesterday for sure.
