There was a thread earlier on here about no commitments past 2019. Who are the players that we need to sign past that point. I'll start with three:

Machado

Schoop

Who else you got?

Manny isn't getting locked up. Not going to happen. At least long-term.

Tillman is the guy you need to lockup. Been saying that for 2 years. I think it happens, should have happened already and they would have saved money. Price just keeps going up and up.

Schoop? Really? Still too early there.

Why no love for Pearce or De Aza?

Schoop was pretty dreadful last year in 481 PA. I don't see him as a long-term piece.

Pearce is a free agent after this year I think and he looks legit. Pearce and Manny.

He projects as a potential 20-25 homerun guy, which is extremely rare for a second baseman. He also has a hell of a glove. Not a ton of "great" second baseman out there. Maybe we could do better, but I'm willing to give Schoop a lot more time...

We must be watching different players. I see Schoop as a guy who will eventually OPS .700 or so and hit 20-25 homers per year. Very much above average for a 2nd baseman. Not to mention he's a great defender and has a cannon attached to his right shoulder. I think he'll make All Star games. Just my opinion.
