I know this happens all of the time, but why does Pedroia just accept the tag right there? I know you're allowed to make a turn around 1B into foul territory when you're headed to 2B, so why wouldn't you try to take the same turn right there to get around Davis' tag?

I'm aware that they aren't the same thing. I haven't heard of him being lazy except for Buck's comments in the Spring. I remember reading comments made by White Sox fans after the trade that they were glad he was gone because he makes a good bit of boneheaded decisions.

I didn't mean to suggest that you thought it was the same thing, sorry.

I wonder if there is anything to that, I know that some people are frustrated that he isn't a great base-stealer despite his foot-speed (and above average overall baserunning). I wonder if that plays into it.
