Shocked, I'm happy for the team! Caleb and a fully healthy Matt is an excellent tandem at catcher.

I'm really hoping he can get back to the offense he showed in 2014 before getting hurt (.839 OPS in 112 PA).

Motivated and healthy wieters is good for Os. One year with extra motivation will serve Matt and Os well.

That's the part that bummed me out a little. But the best thing about Salty is his bat, so theoretically they could use all 3 of Caleb, Salty, and Matt - using the DH position. But realistically, it won't happen.

Yes, but Wieters isn't taking that deal now. Maybe after 2016.

I am very surprised and will acknowledge that I was completely wrong in my belief that he would never take the QO. I agree that the Atlanta signing and Rasmus being the first made it much more likely. I am also totally OK with having a healthy Matt on the 2016 club on a one year and hope he wins comeback player of the year. But if I am Matt, I gotta be wondering "hmmm, I am paying Scott Boras 787,400 dollars in order for me to decide pick the QO?" People on the OH (not me) could have told him that, and did, for a lot less of a fee.
