Let's Have Some Fury

Steve Kline - he was a horrible pitcher, acted like a jerk and criticized his teammates.

Doug Jones - I just remember him blowing save after save. He basically threw junk.

Brian Matusz - I'm not sure but he may have the worst season ever for a starting pitcher after showing promise in his rookie year and being a high draft pick. So disappointing.

I've kinda mellowed on Matusz because he's actually been a very good reliever, but this opens some old wounds. He was such an outstanding prospect, and his rookie year was so good, followed up by one of the most spectacularly bad partial seasons of all time, despite no apparent serious injuries. His career arc is relatively unprecedented (or at least exceptionally rare). He deserves to be on this list.

2010 (Age 23):

32 GS / 175.2 IP

4.30 ERA

4.05 FIP

3.0 fWAR

0.97 HR/9

2011 (Age 24)

12 GS / 49.2 IP

10.00 ERA

7.66 FIP

-1.1 fWAR

3.26 HR/9 (!!!!!)

Not a player but I never got the Phil Regan managerial hire. I remember saying "Who?" when my uncle/godfather told me about it and by the way Nevermore, that's who would have taken Jones out since it was 1995. I'm sure Regan isn't a bad guy but he just didn't seem like an O's manager to me. I don't remember Johnny Oates that well but I know now that he was honestly pretty successful with us and I know how much he loved this franchise given he had gone through the minors here and played for Cal Sr. Real sad about how he left us too young but I digress.

There's no WAY Hunter belongs anywhere near a list of players. Y'all clearly weren't around prior to Buck.

Was just trying to clarify why Steve Jan. MIGHT have listed Tommy. I don't hate Tommy just that damn meatball cutter. For the record I was around long before Buck, even before Earl.

Actually it was even worse, he had a 10.69 ERA!

I remember a game when Doug Jones blew a huge lead. The manager (forget who he was) finally took him out. He left amidst a rain of boos. He shook his fingers at the fans as he left.

Was probably Regan. What an awful manager. The most baffling hire in O's history. The Jim Zorn hire for our franchise.

Yeah I didn't get that one. It did leave us to Davey I guess but Angelos messed up by firing Oates and Oates' Rangers teams always seemed to have our number I feel.

Mike DeJean and Danys Baez easily top the list for me. Ponson is close to these two.

Although, Will Clark and Joe Carter left a bitter taste in my mouth after their brief stints with the O's. I remember Clark catching fire after being dealt to St. Louis, then trashing the O's somewhat after the deal was made....something along the lines of "getting out of the situation (O's) has rejuvenated me." Carter was just a cocky s.o.b. when I saw him at the yard. He would ignore little kids' autograph requests by singing to himself and pretending not to hear any of them.

Ponson, Flaherty, and Matusz...all for very different reasons.

Ponson for being a fat waste of talent and money.

Flaherty for being worse than mediocre, but more heavily defended than Fort Bragg...by both the O's brass and a large contingent of fans.

Matusz for just...hanging around after never coming all that close to fulfilling his potential. Top five pick turned lefty specialist who does not inspire much confidence when he enters games. And he's making almost $4 million in 2016.

I'm surprised Huff hasn't made an appearance ITT. He's not on my list, but I'd have thought he'd show up on a few.

Armando Benitez...I have never been more mortified by any Oriole player, but, even outside the brawl, this guy was perhaps the dumbest situational reliever ever. Let me throw it faster was his motto. Can I say Mark Belanger only when he had a bat in his hand? God, I can't tell you how many times in the middle of an Os rally, here comes Belanger with a bat and I would be yelling at the radio. But, of course, he was the Wizard of all Orioles shortstops- amazing defensive player.
