Christian Walker went 2-for-3.

Dariel Alvarez went 2-for-4.

Baysox [AA] Lost 5 to 2

Joe Gunkel took the loss despite a decent outing (5 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K).

Brian Matusz allowed a home run and struck out two.

Trey Mancini hit a two-run homer to account for the Baysox scoring.

Keys [A+] Lost 5 to 2

Mitch Horacek took the loss but did pick up six K's (5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, 6 K).

Jay Gonzalez hit an RBI triple.

Shorebirds [A] Won 4 to 0

Good night on farm for the prospects. Good to see Moutcastle get off to a good start with the homer and Jomar Reyes going 1-for-3 with a BB. Plus Tanner Scott threw two hitless innings and Christian Walker went 2-for-3 while playing LF.

DJ Stewart went 0-for-2 but with a BB and no Ks. He needs to get off to a good start to get last season off his mind right away.

Tony,

Any idea what is going to happen with Jomar Reyes defensively? Davis is at 1B and Machado at 3B - though Manny could move to SS when the Hardy contract expires. Assuming those two stay where they are, maybe we should put Jomar in a corner OF spot sooner than later.

Hopefully the weight loss is a very positive indication of Reyes' maturity and commitment. An improvement in his BBs could be a good indication that he could move quickly up the minors even at his young age.

I think you try to keep him at 3rd. The weight loss was only after a weight gain, and as he gets older it won't always be so easy to drop pounds. The fluctuation actually worries me more about his ability to want keep his weight down going forward.
