It's probably been mentione before, but any indication of whether the Delmarva gun is fast/slow? What was the opposing starter hitting?

These were my thoughts exactly. I watched him pitch the other night, and the stadium gun had him 84-87 most of the night. I saw it hit 89 one time. I found a scout and asked him the stadium gun was matching his and he told me that it was accurate.

This is a small guy that wont shatter any bats, but they don't seem to square-up on him. He has great command and he attacks. He's interesting. I don't know how his stuff will play as he climbs the ladder, but I sure hope that it plays well.

Edit: BREF has him at 6'3 175lbs. No. I wasn't that far away. He looked much shorter and maybe 150lbs soaking wet.

Not much hype about our SP prospects this year given how they all got off to terrible starts.

Alvarado has been pretty solid the last three months.     He's allowed more than 4 ER seven times this year, and five of those were in April/May.    I think he's done enough to warrant a promotion to Bowie next year.

I know Alvarado isn’t really considered a prospect, as evidenced by the fact that nobody has bothered to bump this thread for a year.   The fact that he’s repeating Frederick at age 23 doesn’t bode well, either.

But I’m bumping this thread to pay homage to Alvarado’s sheer durability.

2016 - 27 games, 148 IP.

2017 - 26 games, 140.1 IP

2018 - 24 games, 143 IP and counting.

The guy basically hasn’t missed a turn in three years.    Not easy to do.   He’s led his team in IP all three years.

Like I said, probably not a prospect, but I hope he gets a shot in the Bowie rotation next spring.

Following up on this, Alvarado finished at 155 IP to lead the Carolina League.

Thought I'd bump this thread, since Cristian doesn't come up hardly ever and I feel a tad bit connected to the guy since I initially asked about him a little over three years ago.  Cristian hasn't started a game this season for Bowie, so I'm guessing he's considered bullpen material at this point.  It hasn't been a bad transition for him, 22 games, 51.2 IP, 2.96 ERA, 0.97 WHIP.   Not much for strikeouts, but much like always his bread and butter has been limiting the walks. 

I fully acknowledge the guy is most likely organizational filler, at best maybe a guy who rides the shuttle from AAA or is filler for an injury.  But, I still root for the guy, and a guy that limits the walks out of the pen will always have a degree of value to me.

Definitely a good story during a long rebuild.  At some point maybe they even throw him a September Call up.

Nice thread bump. Definitely rooting for this guy to get his chance in the majors.
