A Role for Kim

We will know that Kim has established himself the moment that someone starts a thread suggesting that we should sell high and flip him for prospects. Until then, I am just enjoying watching him play a few games in a row. I would like to see more. I also enjoyed watching Joey get run out there for a month or so.

Yep instead you've decide to bow at the altar of Joey "Below Replacement Level" Rickard.

Nah. I just think he has earned a longer rope. He was everyone's favorite player the first month and now they are calling him a bust. Truth somewhere in between but he has earned it. Kim is a much smaller sample size.

Range isn't good but sure you have seen that. No bad plays like Trumbo in his short time out there.

Plus he hasn't been given the opportunity to fail yet since Buck has pulled him in the late innings in all but 1 game.

Buck needs to pull off the training wheels and let the chips fall where they may.

Yep, people should be worried about Kim's defense hurting the team unlike Rickard who has great defensive metrics.

Buck said he wasn't benching Kim until his BA dropped under .350.

I heard he was going to be benched for the season now because his home run didn't make it to the upper deck which is unacceptable. :smile11:

Maybe both.

Reimold may have earned himself another start with his home run, bit it wouldn't be weird to see Rickard get the nod either.

They do face a lefty on Tuesday. So Reimold will be in the lineup then.

o

(JUNE 3rd)

Hyun-Soo Kim has started in 9 out of the Orioles' last 10 games (including tonight against the Yankees.)

The only game that he did not start in that time span was when the Orioles faced left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez on May 31st.

Last 9 games: .313/.426/.500, 3 2B, HR, RBI, 5BB, 6K

BA: .313

OBP: .426

(vs. BLUE JAYS, 6/09)

This guy has gone from "seeking a role on the team" to being an invaluable part of the lineup.

He reminds me of Nolan Reimold, in that you know he is going to be patient and never panic, even if the count is 0-2 and the team is trailing in the 9th inning.

They (Kim and Reimold) won't get a hit every time up, but you also never have the feeling that "They're toast" during any of their plate appearances.
