SilverRocket
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/revisiting-chris-davis-troubling-trend/ This is kind of weird to me because I remember his hottest streak being from 2013 where he hit a lot of opposite field shots. His pull% this year is noticeably lower than last though.
esmd
Interesting article. And I do love watching the big fella hit them a mile, especially to LF. :-) I mean, how many other guys can hit opposite field HR's in OPACY to the visiting team's bullpen?!?!?!?!?! Yeah, his power hasn't diminished one bit. In general, I agree, when he's hitting to all fields, he's at his best. The only explanation I can come up with, is that he seems to be striking out more this year, especially looking. He seems to have looked at a LOT of 3rd strikes. That's just anecdotal, I haven't looked up the numbers. I just wonder if in previous years where he was pulling the ball a lot (2014), he was hitting into a lot of outs, whereas this year, he's striking out more, but when he does put the ball in play, he's better than say, 2014? Just a hunch, again, I haven't had the time or inclination to this point to have done any research on any of that.
