Time To the Plate

Arrieta’s TTTP really does suck.    Miguel Montero got fired for publicly calling him out on it after the Nats stole 7 bases off him in a June 27 game.   While in Chicago, his record was 99 stolen bases, 19 caught stealing (83.9% success rate).    That’s worse than Ubaldo was for us the last four years (85 SB, 17 CS).

Obviously, that mattered little so long as he was dominating and not allowing many runners.    And it was more important for him to focus on the batters than to worry about the runners.    But if he’s now coming back down to human level regarding baserunner prevention, his inability to hold runners could be a bigger problem as he ages.

OK, weams, your top stat is QOPA, I assume. But help me interpret the meaning of what you chose to post. Is it that:

1. The Orioles should sign Alex Cobb?

2. Gausman is much better than Bundy?

3. "Fat Tillman" of 2015 was better than 2016 Tillman? (Was that "not-Fat Tillman?" in 2016?)

4. Andrew Cashner rocks now that he doesn't strike out batters any more?

Let me know if I got any if those interpretations correct.

I suspect Buck’s issue was less with the TTP and more with the attitutude about not wanting to listen to anyone about it because he was obviously such an awesome pitcher and all the little minds around him couldn’t see it.

August 19th through August 25th, 2006.  Complete game shutout with 10 Ks against the Jays, followed up by seven shutout innings against the Rays.  You may have been napping and missed it.

There was a period that I felt was longer for good ol' CaBBrera,  I seem to remember a month, maybe a month and a half where he seemed to have been turning a corner.

I like K/9 rate as well as k/bb ratio.
