Rom and Akin out after 4 2/3 innings

I know most consider wins unimportant,, but I hated seeing both Rom and Akin taken out with the lead with 4 2/3 innings of work.

Akin was getting close to 100 pitches and Rom was between 80-90.

I'm not a fan of the pitch limits. High school pitchers in my state can throw 120 pitches in a game.

Bundy threw a lot of pitches in high school.

In Akin's case, he was probably taken out because he wasn't fooling anyone. Six hits, two walks, four runs in 4.2 innings. I'm surprised they left him in as long as they did, frankly.

I was a little surprised too, but he would have made it without the last walk. Wotherspoon gave up a homer on the first batter he faced or Akin could have made it out with only two earned runs given up.

There is obviously a pitch limit plan and a system in place throughout the minors. In a month or so it’ll seem like a silly thing to be bothered by.
