Watching him hit this year it seems like he has had a lot of loud outs. This is confirmed by an unusually low .289 BABIP.

Despite the unusually bad luck he is carrying a .345 obp.

He has a good eye st the plate and is making contact.

Over the past 7 games his avg is .323 with an .400 obp

The slugging is way down. His launch angle on batted balls is also way down which is probably why he only has one HR. This may just be a function of small sample size or may need to be adjusted by him.

His exit velocity is solid at 90.16mph so he is hitting the ball hard.

He'll trend up in the minors.

I can think of a half dozen others I would send to Norfolk instead...including Showalter.

But as buck said that Mancini tries so hard because of what is happening. Maybe a mental break to the minors for a month wil calm him down and they can move some pieces. He comes back with new attitude and new teammates. I never thought he was a guy who can carry a team but a cheap decent player is not bad to have.

Mancini has clearly had a sub-par season overall, but 16 home runs at this point is not bad.

(vs. DEVIL RAYS, 8/07)))))))))

It’s about average for a regular, below average for a regular at 1B.

Eye test- Mancini looks better at the plate. He’s a ball player and his makeup is fantastic.

We have to get rid of Trumbo and slide Mancini to Dh with some games at 1B. I’m saying it, that’s the number 1 offseason priority.

A 1B or DH with a sub .700 OPS isnt really what you want out of that position. I understand he's not really a LF either, but thats another argument.
