So their #2 Propects (Ranked 47 in the top 100) and Barreto has 200 bats spread over 3 seasons. he hasn't yet hit at the majors. Hit .289 with .350 OBP in the minors so one would assume he can figure it out. His 834 OPS is obviously inflated due to the PCL. But it looks like he could have 10-15 HR power.

This also assumes he has no DH penalty and doesn’t move the needle by inevitably having to play a fair amount of defense. Moving him to DH or 1B obviously doesn’t guarantee him more value. This same argument was made about Adam Jones last year. He moved to a corner and was below replacement level in 2019.

For what it’s worth, Mancini has hit well at DH (.871), so it hasn’t seemed to bother him offensively.   At least so far.

Indeed he has, but that’s in only ~200 plate appearances of relatively sporadic frequency so far in his career. DHing every day could be a different animal.

Always thought Trumbo needed to play 1B since he hit better when fielding and Mancini needed to DH since it didn't much matter to him.  Unfortunately, there was another historic player that needed to get at bats.  Oh, historically bad.

Trumbo was disabled for over a year of his contract.
