I agree but I guess I would put a marker of expectations out there anyway, knowing he would likely not heed it.  It would bolster my argument to ownership as to cutting ties.

Sounds like his role will be as an unofficial player-coach. 26th man on the team who pinch-hits and gets an occasional start while serving as assistant  infield coach. They could hide him that way next year. 2021 they probably need his spot.

Hope you're right, but I think his inflated sense of self-importance will have him clutching to any idea that suggests he provides some value.

If ownership somehow fails to see after the last 2 seasons he needs to be gone this off-season, I'm not sure what's left to say.

Only insofar as it seems like Elias is definitely laying the ground work to end this situation. I would expect nothing else with a contract that large. Heck, if the article said John Angelos was sitting down with Davis, that wouldn't even surprise me. 

They're marginalizing his role. His time is coming and they're trying to handle it delicately.

The only programs that will be mutually beneficial to Davis and the team are a buyout or minor league assignment.

I predicted 20-30 PAs at most for Davis in September and it looks like he won't get even that.

Under Buck, I think Trumbo would have played more this month, with platitudes about him in the post-game pressers.

Speaking of track records, Buck’s says he only played Davis in 14 games last September.    So, there’s no reason to think Davis would have played every day this September if Buck was here.     Trumbo was injured last September, so no track record there.
