I saw someone in the comments said "even Jesus waited 3 days" lol. In all seriousness, hope the guy is getting the emotional/mental health support to see him through what sounds like a weird time. Sounds like he's got good people around him.

He’s 28 and spent his whole career in the minors before this year. I’d be frustrated too if I had a great start and then fell apart after my manager bad mouthed me for hitting a HR. Hope he finds his way.

This article doesn’t give specifics, but yeah Mercedes has gotten into trouble in the past.

Johnny Dipuglia, Washington’s assistant general manager of international operations, who signed Mercedes in 2011, suggested to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic that Mercedes’ behavior was a factor in the team’s decision to cut him.

“He had some discipline problems over here, I won’t deny that,” Dipuglia told Rosenthal last month, adding, “For him to get to the big leagues after the struggles he had, it shows me he had a lot more mental fortitude than I thought he did.”

Sounds like the guy may have psychological/emotional problems.   I hope he’s able to get his game back on track, and if he is having the problems I am speculating about (I certainly don’t know), address those effectively as well.

I’m sure digging around the Minor League board would show it. I recall Tony and I mentioning a few things, but that was quite a while ago.

Lol, imagine if Duquette had just resigned me, Orioles might not have had CDs crazy contract, but who knows. Tampa took all my salary too!
