With Lowther, I wonder how much he's been affect by both the new ball and the new restriction on the sticky stuff.  My recollection is he had a great spin rate on his fastball in past years, and perhaps those 2 factors damaged him?

Lowther was more about his funky delivery and extension to the plate more than spin rate on his fastball. I still think he has a chance to be a rotation piece. This year was almost a mulligan for him based on how he was used and his injury halfway through the season which might have been caused by his usage by the organization. His spin rate on his slider is very good and if he ever develops that changeup I think he has enough to be a back end rotation piece.

7/0 K/BB in five shutout innings, as the Baysox try and make it to Saturday.

He’s probably our pitcher of the month for September.   I think he’s allowed 1 run all month.    He already was pitcher of the month for July.   Had some serious hiccups in August but he had an outstanding season.

A tempting hot take is he is our second best pitching prospect.

I nominate the Bedard-Ballard scale as a descriptor for if an Orioles LHP has anything a MLB batter will respect.   I know where DL Hall sits here, and a bunch of the others too.   Fingers crossed Rom can climb it pretty far.

Hopefully at least one of the low guys randomly Ballards in 2023.

And Drew's actually a month younger than Grayson.  Great to have 2 21 year old starters who could make their MLB debuts next season and become stalwarts in the rotation.  Hall just turned 23 - he's the old man of the group.

So, Ballards is a verb?
