So the extra context that you are referring to (which i agree is absolutely important especially at the lower levels) actually makes the 2019 and 2021 Delmarva teams very comparable after all?   Is that what you meant?

One way to look at each level is by seeing how much of the talent Elias drafted or acquired through trade/minor league free agency

Very interesting.  The Norfolk% throws off the trend.  Do you attribute the high number of Elias acquisitions at the AAA level to simply supplementing the MLB team, waiver claims, etc?

Yes, 100%. So far though, only Spenser Watkins has really contributed among the free agent signings. I think Dusten Knight will get an opportunity soon though. He's earned it.

Norfolk (25-43) went 1-5 against Gwinnett (37-35).   Next up:Durham (49-21).   

Bowie (41-29) went 4-2 against Hartford (22-49).  Next up: Richmond (38-34).

Aberdeen (38-33) went 2-4 against Hudson’ Valley (47-25).  Next up: Bowling Green (50-22).

Delmarva (41-30) went 2-5 against Lynchburg (36-35).   Next up: Fredericksburg ;23-49).

Here’s how it’s gone for our affiliates by month:

Norfolk 8-15 May, 12-12 June, 9-18 July = 29-45 through July

Bowie 17-5 May, 13-13 June, 15-12 July = 45-30 through July

Aberdeen 15-7 May, 12-15 June, 11-16 July = 38-38 through July

Delmarva 17-6 May, 15-10 June, 11-17 July = 43-33 through July

July was pretty unkind to our affiliates, except for Bowie.   I think the strong start was partially because the O’s were so conservative in their player placements to begin the year.   Promotions have made it harder for guys to dominate their next level, though don’t tell that to Neustrom, Stowers or Westburg.

Norfolk (30-45) went 5-2 against Durham (51-26).   Next up: Jacksonville (43-34).

Bowie (46-30) went 5-1 against Richmond (39-39).   Next up: Somerset (47-29).   

Aberdeen (39-38) went 1-5 against Bowling Green (55-24).   Next up: Jersey Shore (36-42).

Delmarva (43-34) went 2-4 agaivat Fredericksburg (27-51).   Next up: Down East (43-34).

Kudos to Norfolk for taking it to Durham this time around.

Norfolk (32-50) went 2-5 against Jacksonville (48-36).  Now up: Memphis (40-44).

Bowie (49-33) went 3-3 against Somerset (50-32).   Now up: Richmond (42-42).

Aberdeen (43-39) went 4-1 against Jersey Shore (37-46).   Now up: Asheville (35-46).

Delmarva (45-38) went 2-4 against Down East (47-36).   Now up: Lynchburg (42-41).

Bowie (53-35) went  4-2 against Richmond (44-46). Next up: Reading (34-56).

Aberdeen (47-41) went 4-2 against Asheville (37-50).  Next up: Wilmington (39-51).

Delmarva (48-42) went 3-4 against Lynchburg (46-44).  Next up:Fredericksburg (33-57).  

All four affiliates are facing weak opponents next week.   We’ll see how that goes.

I think the Tides have about 42 games to play.   They’d have to go 28-14 to reach .500.    I don’t see that happening.  .500 the rest of the way?   That’d be a good goal.

Bowie (57-37) went 4-2 against Reading (36-60).   Next up: Erie (50-46).

Aberdeen (48-45) went 1-4 against Asheville (41-51).   Next up: Brooklyn (35-58).

Delmarva (54-42) went 6-0 against Fredericksburg (33-63).   Next up: Salem (57-39).

Norfolk and Aberdeen really blew opportunities to take advantage of weak opponents this week.   Delmarva certainly didn’t and the newly promoted talent really shined.

Fredericksburg looks Orioles level bad.  Salem looks Tampa Bay level good.  Let’s see if Delmarva can keep this up against tougher competition.  Hope they can.
